Activities

In order to ensure residents fulfil their personal, social and psychological needs and to optimise their wellbeing a wide range of services and activities are available within Millbrook Manor Nursing Home. Family members are encouraged to take their relatives on outings of their choice and support their loved ones in maintaining social contact and pre-existing hobbies and interests wherever practicable. Every effort is made to facilitate the residents to participate in the activities of their choice.

Following assessment after their admission the residents’ choice of activities are identified in consultation with the resident and/or their family.
We encourage residents to put forward ideas for activities which will help to enhance their stay in the nursing home.  All ideas will be given careful consideration, discussed and facilitated if possible.

Residents who wish to participate in any individual activities, outside of the group arrangements may incur a separate charge. There are many services and activities available in the local community for residents to attend if they wish.  We are developing a file with details and contact numbers which will be available at reception. Please contact the Person in Charge or Administrator if you require assistance.

Any travel arrangements should be made by the resident and/or relatives.  A recommended taxi service is available. Any costs relating to outside activities should be paid by the resident. We will be arranging some outings for our residents whenever practicable. This will be arranged in conjunction with the residents, families and team members of Millbrook Manor Nursing Home. These outings will depend on the wishes of our residents and will be discussed and decided upon in resident meetings.

Millbrook Manor Nursing Home has an experienced Activity Co-ordinator team. They cover each day Monday – Sunday at times that vary dependant on the resident’s wishes and requirements with regard to activities. Other meaningful activities are also carried out by the staff through an assessment (key to me) on each resident. The Sonas programme is also active within our nursing home.
